Seavey Soars to the Top of 2018 Midget Power Rankings

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (December 20, 2018) – Logan Seavey made the most of his second full season of Midget racing competition by topping the 2018 edition of the www.midgetmadness.com Midget Power Rankings.

After capturing the POWRi Midget title in 2017, the Sutter, CA, native joined forces with the Keith Kunz Racing team in 2018 to snare the USAC National Midget title.  Seavey led a KKR sweep of the top five positions in this year’s Midget Power Rankings.

Seavey racked up nine feature wins over the course of the year among his 30 top-fives and 37 top-tens including three USAC triumphs and a half-dozen POWRi scores.  Seavey set the tone for the season early with a Shamrock classic score in March before picking up additional USAC wins at Sweet Springs, MO, and then Bakersfield in November.

It marked the sixth year in a row that a Keith Kunz representative has topped the Midget Power Rankings after Christopher Bell took the top spot in 2013 and 2014, Tanner Thorson earned number one honors in 2015 and 2016 and then Spencer Bayston landed the top spot in 2017.

Seavey took the top Midget Power Rankings position by the most overwhelming margin yet, outdistancing POWRi National champion Tucker Klaasmeyer of Paola, KS, by 251 points for the position.  In his first year with Keith Kunz Racing, Klaasmeyer picked off a half dozen wins to outdistance Foresthill, California’s Ryan Robinson for runner-up honors.

With Robinson rounding out the podium, fellow Cali shoe Tanner Carrick earned fourth with Norman, OK, native and defending Chili Bowl champion Christopher Bell rounding out the top five for the year.  Bell matched Seavey in the win column with nine triumphs despite running an abbreviated dirt schedule in his spare time away from the NASCAR Xfiinity series ranks.

Chad Boat earned his highest ranking thus far by finishing out the year in sixth with Tyler Courtney, Zach Daum, Kevin Thomas, Jr., and Justin Grant filling out the top ten.

Hailing from Pocahontas, IL, Daum is the only driver to finish among the top ten of the www.midgetmadness.com Midget Power Rankings over each of the past six years while Seavey, Klaasmeyer and Carrick each cracked the top ten for the first time.
