Schudy Claims ASMS Championship

By Ray Cunningham

The Allstar Midget Series has run its last race for 2015, and Springfield, Missouri driver Pat Schudy has taken the title. Schudy didn’t win a feature this summer, but he was the model of consistency in Allstar competition. The two time champion driving his own #7s midget finished on the podium eight times in eleven races, including three second place finishes, and five third place runs in eleven starts. Nixa, Missouri racer Wesley Smith in the family owned #44 finished second place in points to Schudy, who repeated his title from a year ago. Smith, the teen sensation who also races a midget built by Schudy, won a season best four times. Unfortunately too many DNFs stymied his hopes of unthroning the defending champ. Merril Lamb, driving the Ray & Sandy Boyles #7rs came home in third place in points, followed by Bill Hughes, and Mike Epperson. Seven different drivers won in the Allstar series this year, including four first time feature winners, Smith, Bryan Clauson, Clinton Boyles, and Mike Sosebee.
