With usac coming in this year with the new silver crown and midget show for the nationals, what can we expect for car counts this year? They had 14 cars last year. Will that number double to 28? Really pumped for those 3 days of racing!
I have gone to races in Belleville all my life. The town is friendly and the track has so much wonderful tradition and stories. I visited with many people over the weekend and the same stories keep coming out. The race board is not only killing the nationals, they are killing the track. It is very sad because it is a wonderful place. It almost has that certain something that makes you want to come back. However, this experience this year was not as great. It is started with usac leaving, then the board ran off speedy and speedway motors, and who knows why rev honey doesn't sponsor any more but according to the board I am sure it is rev honeys fault. There was a bad crowd turnout. On top of that it lacked that personal stamp it has always had. This will be my last race at Belleville unless things change. 35.00 is a lot to spend for one night. My hopes is that there is a group or person who wants to invest in this track to make a change for the better or someone who can be on the board who has a true passion for the high banks. I hate to see this historic track fade into the sunset.
Looks like a great field of 30 cars for this week! Won't be making the journey till Saturday. Can anyone give some updates for tonight's short track prelims? I see Belleville got an inch and a half of rain last night. That will be good for the track. Temp for Saturday is 87 and a low of 60. Track will be in good shape. I think it will be hard to beat Abreu in the kunz car but we will see.
