Ft. Morgan, CO. (August 8, 2009)
– Keith Rauch driving the IMM, AAI Speed Equipment, Spike/Gaerte continues his winning ways by sweeping the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association (RMMRA) at I-76 Speedway Saturday night in Ft. Morgan, CO.

With an inverted field of nine cars to start the 25 lap “A” Feature, rookie Midget driver Justin Mallo and Julee Jamison lead the field to the green and after lap one, Brian Postle was leading the field. Postle lead most of the laps while Rauch was working his way through the field from the back on a dry slick track. Over half way, Rauch challenge and passed Postle for the led coming out of turn four. Rauch pulled away from the field and at the checker, it was Rauch, Rossi, (after spinning out early in the feature) and Postle rounding out the top three positions. Three caution flags came out during the “A” Feature, one for Tony Rossi, the second for Mike Heberling and the third was for Chris Sheil that was challenging for the led with laps closing.

Heat Race winners were, Keith Rauch and Todd Plemons.

This was the last dirt race for the year for the RMMRA; the club will finish their schedule on the pavement with five races starting in two weeks at I-25 Speedway in Pueblo, CO on August 22, Colorado National Speedway in Erie, CO on August 29, Big Country Speedway in Cheyenne, WY on September 5, I-25 Speedway on September 12 and Big Country Speedway on September 19.

Results:

Heat One (8 Laps)
– Keith Rauch, Chris Sheil, Julee Jamison, Mike Heberling, Bob Harr (DNF).

Heat Two (8 Laps) – Todd Plemons, Tony Rossi, Brian Postle, Justin Mallo.

“A” Feature (25 Laps) – Keith Rauch, Tony Rossi, Brian Postle, Julee Jamison, Todd Plemons, Chris Sheil, Mike Heberling, Justin Mallo, Bob Harr (DNS).

Brian Postle drove the race of his life Saturday night and I thought he was going to win his first RMMRA main event. He still had the lead when the flagman gave the five laps to go sign and that was despite several yellow flags that regrouped the field. Finishing a close third to Keith and Tony is still quite an accomplishment. Good luck Brian and keep up the good racing! Jim
Midget racing is big time entertainment.
