my grandfather had a ford tiger tractor engine in a midget around 1959. there was a ford sesco engine during the early 70s. don't know if it was mentioned, but the chevy 2.8/3.1 v6. it was previously mentioned, but the strangest idea i ever saw was a 255/270 offy front 2 cyls. in a midget mid 70's.. sounded like thunder(LOUD) but was not fast.at least not on the day i saw it run. the chevy v-4 was popular for a short while.

Mike Mcnulty's 2-stroke 6cyl i think,lots of pipes coming out,lol very nice engine he built,dean erfurth ran it a few times in the mcnulty v4 car.

I can only think of 2 yhat have been missed...An Allard, which is a 4 cylinder chevy made from a v-8 by a wonderful Gentleman from down Dallas way, Mr Walter Allard...and back in the 60's around Saint Louis there was a fella who ran a Triumph 4 cyl in his Midget......

The Triumph 4 cyl engines were basically a Ferguson tractor engine.

Jake and Russ Jacobsen also ran an all Aluminum push rod Pontiac engine. It was a reject from some testing program. Russ ran Pontiac's test track operations, so that is how he got it.

Joe Giba had a Johnson V-4 outboard in his car. If he could keep it wound up tight, it was very competitive.

I know of at least one car that ran a Waukesha ice-engine for a while (not the same as the Cragar, Jr/Waukesha). That is from a railroad car air conditioning system.

And the Midwestern car that was known as "The Checkerboard had two Crosley's in it for quite a while. They sat side by side.

There was a guy who ran midget around St. Louis that cut Chevy 350 small blocks in half and ran them.

I can't think of the guys name but he has a special frame built with a removable down tube to enable engine removal and replacement.

Are you thinking of Roy Wilson? He used to cut his engines in half with a hacksaw.

MacDowells Volvos, Uara at Joliet Stadium, early 60.'s, 70's, and. Beyond, I think. And Bob and Danny Lockard used an aluminum 4 cyl., some English make. I think someone mentioned Frank Katers Buick?. Dave Whitehorse had a rear engine Falcon he ran at Joliet Stadium a while. And someone, i can not recall who now, i UARA fiddled with a turbo charged Volvo for a bit. As i recall, at Illiana, took almost the whole straightaway for the turbo to really do some good, then it went like ###### but by then he had to get out of it for the turns..Those were the days...........

1. In the North East, Wen and Ray Kelly cut a 6 cyl Nash in half  used only 3 cylinders. Bruce Buffington ran a half of a Boss 302 Ford, V4.  Mike Luggelle ran a whole 327 Chevy with only 1 head.
