Hi everyone, i just joined as i bought a 67 midget for a project. Its earlyish model but has no engine or box so dont see the point in trying to do a classic restoration and would like to keep the driving charachter but improve reliability and maybe race it one day just for the days out. Have an mgf as well and the engine really pulls well and seems a popular choice in midgets so like the idea of having a go at that conversion. I feel confident welding and am competent with my hands but am not a mechanic. Would a 1275 with a modern gearbox be easier and cheeper? I can get a mgf engine for 400 so its just the thought of adapter bits being extortionate? Would love your thoughts.

You realize this is an open wheel midget race car forum, not the sportscar "midget"? In 1967 our race cars had 2.5 liter Chevy II motors or 110 cubic in Offies. 1275 cc motors would have been in some 3/4 midget clubs.
