Another well known racer who has not been listed as yet: Leon Duray Sirois almost sat on the pole at the Speedway. We all know him as "Jigger".

I would like one of the Chicago area members to explain to me why Bob Hare was known as "Rib". He always made the program with the Auto Club on dirt or asphalt even though he was a pavement specialist.

My dad was a very good friend of Rib's, and used to travel with him frequently. He never knew where the name came from either, and doesn't to this day.

 

I am utterly amazed that in this entire thread, nobody mentioned Larry "BOOM BOOM" Cannon!
