ARDC Midget Week Ends on a Bright Note
JONESTOWN, Pa. (August 19, 2016) – Alex Bright took another Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic ARDC presented by Autobahn Indoor Speedway feature at the Linda’s Speedway Friday night. Bright, coming off a heart breaking loss at LANCO against USAC on Tuesday night, started in the seventh position and used the top side in turns one and two and the bottom in turns three and four to work his way to the front passing race leader Brett Wanner on lap sixteen of the twenty five lap feature.
Brett Wanner and Ryan Greth lead the field to the green with Wanner leading lap one and Trevor Kobylarz jumping to second.
Kobylarz took the lead on lap two and began to distance himself from the field, but the feature winner last time at Linda’s would go up in smoke with engine trouble ending his night.
The 44 of Wanner inherited the lead as the field went back to green with Nick Wean, Ryan Greth and Bret Arndt battling for second. Arndt would make a bold move splitting the 4 of Greth and the 78 of Wean to take the position. Nick Wean’s night would end with a broken axel and a slow roll over going into turn one a few laps later.
On the restart Alex Bright moved into third and set his sights on the leaders. Bright would get by Arndt on lap twelve and move into second behind Wanner. Bright caught the leader and would use the top side to pull even coming off turn two and down the back stretch. Wanner and Bright came to the line in a dead heat to complete lap fifteen with Bright using his momentum to make the pass on the topside of turn one.
Alex seemed to have things in the bag as he pulled away from the field but a late caution with two laps to go would set-up a shootout between him and his brother Brenden. Brenden Bright, who started in the rear of the field after breaking a rear end during warmups, picked his way through the field but wouldn’t have enough to pass older brother Alex at the end.
Alex Bright went on to take his 4th checkered flag of the year with Brenden, the Keizer Wheels hard charger, second and Bret Arndt rounding out the top three.
